The Georgian Defence Ministry on Sunday denounced “false” information spread by the opposition-minded TV Pirveli channel about the quality deficiencies in food supply and uniforms of the Defense Forces.
In its statement, the Ministry noted that the TV Pirveli channel was pursuing its disinformation campaign against the Defence Ministry to discredit the Defence Forces, state bodies and the “successful” reforms, which “is a completely anti-state action and aims to mislead those who want to join the army”.
The Defence Ministry stressed that food and uniform control had been enhanced since 2020, and one of the proofs of this was the creation of a separate quality control department within the body.
The norm of the daily meat ration has increased from 250 grams to 480 grams, and the menu for the military has been diversified. By the Minister’s act, the first-quality meat was replaced by the highest quality one”, the statement said.
It also stressed that the quality of military uniforms and shoes had improved “significantly”, and further pointed out that “never until 2020 was our army massively supplied by the world's best German shoe brands”.
The statement added it was “unfortunate” that the TV Pirveli channel was “deliberately” trying to establish negative “attitudes and stereotypes” towards the Defence Forces and the military service in general, which “completely contradicts the challenges of our country's defence and the current reforms aimed at strengthening the army”.
