Georgia reports 1,716 new cases of coronavirus, 16 deaths

Georgia has registered 1,716 new Covid-19 cases, 1,551 recoveries, and 16 deaths in the past 24 hours. The positivity rate for the past 14 days stands at 13.98 percent.

Overall 30,700 remain infected with coronavirus in Georgia.

A total of 19,857 tests were conducted around the country in the past 24 hours. 17,226 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 2,631 were PCR tests. 

1,637,691 cases of coronavirus have been registered in Georgia since February 26, 2020.

A total of 1,590,380 of 1,637,691 patients have recovered, while 16,585 have died from the virus.

The new Omicron variant of coronavirus accounts for the majority of confirmed Covid-19 cases.

The 1,716 new cases were recorded in:

  • Tbilisi - 672 cases 
  • Adjara - 61 cases 
  • Imereti - 253 cases 
  • Kvemo Kartli - 56 cases 
  • Shida Kartli - 132 cases 
  • Guria - 110 cases 
  • Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti - 150 cases 
  • Kakheti - 156 cases 
  • Mtskheta-Mtianeti - 37 cases 
  • Samtskhe-Javakheti - 43 cases 
  • Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti - 46 cases

A total of 1,324 are undergoing treatment in hospitals as of today of which 340 people are in the intensive care unit.

29,376 people are undergoing treatment at home. 

Overall, 1,354,081 individuals have received at least one dose of any vaccine in the country so far, while 1,251,778 people have been fully vaccinated amounting to 43.5 percent of the country’s adult population and 229,077 have received booster shots of the vaccine.
