Coronavirus-related regulations will remain in force in educational facilities in Georgia despite the government’s decision to lift the majority of restrictions on Tuesday, the country’s education ministry announced earlier today.
Rules such as temperature screening, disinfection, use of disinfection barriers, mandatory face masks, and testing of teachers and administrative staff are still applied at schools, vocational and higher education institutions.
As of today, fully vaccinated teachers are tested once in two weeks with PCR tests, while those who have received only a partial dose of the vaccine or are unvaccinated are tested once a week with rapid tests.
Schools across the country are holding both in-person and remote classes, allowing parents and students to choose either format.
The ministry further said schools in the country were fully provided with disinfectant solutions, facemasks, temperature screening devices and disinfection barriers through the school year, adding the state body continued to monitor the facilities in all regions of Georgia.
Georgia has registered 12,101 new Covid-19 cases, 14,764 recoveries, and 45 deaths in the past 24 hours with a weekly positivity rate standing at 28.55 percent. The new Omicron variant of coronavirus accounts for about 85 percent of confirmed Covid-19 cases.
