Georgia reports 466 new cases of coronavirus, weekly positivity rate stands at 12.36%

Georgia has reported 466 new Covid-19 cases, 2,944 recoveries, and 15 deaths in the past 24 hours. The positivity rate for the past seven days stands at 12.36 percent.

Overall 30,551 remain infected with coronavirus in Georgia.

A total of 5,234 tests were conducted around the country in the past 24 hours. 3,410 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 1,824 were PCR tests. 

1,635,975 cases of coronavirus have been registered in Georgia since February 26, 2020.

A total of 1,588,829 of 1,635,975 patients have recovered, while 16,569 have died from the virus.

The new Omicron variant of coronavirus accounts for the majority of confirmed Covid-19 cases.

The 466 new cases were recorded in:

  • Tbilisi - 272 cases 
  • Adjara - 20 cases 
  • Imereti - 66 cases 
  • Kvemo Kartli - 17 cases 
  • Shida Kartli - 14 cases 
  • Guria - 24 cases 
  • Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti - 30 cases 
  • Kakheti - 12 cases 
  • Mtskheta-Mtianeti - 6 cases 
  • Samtskhe-Javakheti - 5 cases 
  • Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti - 0 cases

A total of 1,461 are undergoing treatment in hospitals as of today. Currently, 393 people are undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit.

29,090 people are undergoing treatment at home. 

Overall, 1,353,567 individuals have received at least one dose of any vaccine in the country so far, while 1,251,296 people have been fully vaccinated amounting to 43.5 percent of the country’s adult population and 228,281 have received booster shots of the vaccine.
