Georgia reports 1,970 new cases of coronavirus, 29 deaths

Georgia has reported 1,970 new Covid-19 cases, 7,294 recoveries, and 29 deaths in the past 24 hours. The positivity rate for the past 14 days stands at 17.68 percent.

Overall 37,211 remain infected with coronavirus in Georgia.

A total of 12,645 tests were conducted around the country in the past 24 hours. 10,240 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 2,405 were PCR tests. 

1,631,900 cases of coronavirus have been registered in Georgia since February 26, 2020.

A total of 1,578,178 of 1,631,900 patients have recovered, while 16,485 have died from the virus.

The new Omicron variant of coronavirus accounts for the majority of confirmed Covid-19 cases.

The 1,970 new cases were recorded in:

  • Tbilisi - 853 cases 
  • Adjara - 69 cases 
  • Imereti - 315 cases 
  • Kvemo Kartli - 83 cases 
  • Shida Kartli - 96 cases 
  • Guria - 117 cases 
  • Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti - 166 cases 
  • Kakheti - 169 cases 
  • Mtskheta-Mtianeti - 45 cases 
  • Samtskhe-Javakheti - 30 cases 
  • Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti - 27 cases

A total of 1,889 are undergoing treatment in hospitals as of today. Currently, 530 people are undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit.

35,322 people are undergoing treatment at home. 

Overall, 1,352,561 individuals have received at least one dose of any vaccine in the country so far, while 1,250,026 people have been fully vaccinated amounting to 43.5 percent of the country’s adult population and 226,527 have received booster shots of the vaccine.
