Georgian MFA: 200 Georgian citizens to be evacuated from Ukraine this week

The process of organised return of Georgian citizens evacuated from Ukraine to their homeland is progressing in phases, the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Monday, along with updates on the number of returning nationals.

The foreign office said about 40 Georgian citizens had returned by land on Sunday, to be followed by 50 departing from Romania today. A departure of citizens from Poland is also planned this week, with 150 Georgian citizens expected to return via the country in total.

On the instructions of the Government of Georgia, the Embassy of Georgia in Ukraine, the Consulate General in Odesa and the Consular Point in Lviv continue operating in emergency mode to assist Georgian citizens.

The Georgian Government has assisted about 1,600 citizens of the country in evacuations from Ukraine since the start of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
