Georgian PM hails “strategic partnership”, “unique friendship” at meeting with Azerbaijani counterpart

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Thursday praised the “strategic partnership” and “unique relations and friendship” with Azerbaijan in a meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart Ali Asadov in Tbilisi.
Hosting the official for a meeting at the Government office ahead of the ninth session of Georgia-Azerbaijan Intergovernmental Economic Commission, Garibashvili stressed the “very close economic cooperation” between the two countries and noted they had acted to ensure peace in the South Caucasus region.
Peace and stability in the region is the basis of more economic development and prosperity”, he said, noting the bilateral relations had been “tested” by centuries.

"Our ties are truly unique. We enjoy strong friendship and good neighbourly relations”, the Georgian PM added.
Recalling the “very important” visit of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Georgia in October, Garibashvili said he had discussed strategic projects with the former and “made plans” for the future cooperation.

I would like to note with satisfaction that the sessions of the joint Commission have become more active recently. I had the honour to participate in its event held in Baku last year”, the Georgian official said.
Pointing to the 30th anniversary since the establishment of diplomatic ties between Georgia and Azerbaijan, marked this year, Garibashvili emphasised the countries had enjoyed “complete understanding and friendship”, with their cooperation “strengthening year on year”.
