Polish President Andrzej Duda on Monday said his country was supporting Georgia's European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations.

In his remarks to the press following a meeting with Georgian counterpart Salome Zourabichvili, Duda noted joining the European Union and NATO would provide Georgia with “good conditions” for economic development and political security.

I, as the President of Poland, once again confirmed to [Georgian] President Poland's unwavering support for Georgia's European and North Atlantic aspirations. We hope that in the not too distant future, Georgia will receive the status of a full-fledged member of the European Union, as well as join NATO”, Duda said.

Duda also stressed Poland had “always” supported these aspirations of Georgia and would continue to back the country.

This is a matter of our common security. Joining the European Union and NATO will provide Georgia with more favourable conditions for economic development and political security”, he concluded.

Zourabichvili started her working visit to Poland on Monday. In the symbolic part of her visit, Zourabichvili will lay a wreath on the grave of Poland’s former President Lech Kaczyński and his wife in Krakow.
