Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Monday said this year’s fruit harvest was expected to hit about 45,000 tonnes of citrus, adding the Government would subsidise collection of non-standard tangerines.

This week the regional Government of Adjara also announced state authorities would co-finance collection of a kilogram of industrial tangerines with ₾0.15 ($0.055), with enterprises paying ₾0.05 ($0.018).

The regional Government also said enterprises would start accepting non-standard tangerines "in the coming days".

Garibashvili today said more than 20 enterprises would accept and process tangerines designated for export from this year’s harvest.

The typical citrus season runs from November to January in the western Adjara and Guria regions.
