Georgia exports 6,179 tonnes of peaches and nectarines

Georgia has exported 6,179 tonnes of peaches and nectarines as of July 14 which is 640 tonnes more than in the same period of last year, when about 5,539 tonnes of peaches and nectarines were exported, announces the Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia.
Georgian peaches and nectarines were mainly exported to:
- Russia - 3,796 tonnes (61 per cent of total export)
- Armenia - 1,857 tonnes (30 per cent)
- Azerbaijan - 417 tonnes (7 per cent)
The Ministry of Agriculture reported that export is carried out also in Kazakhstan, Slovenia, Moldova and Singapore where in total 109 tonnes of peach and nectarine have been exported.
Last year Georgia exported 13,256 peaches and nectarines in the following countries:
- Russia - 10,777 tonnes
- Armenia - 1,373 tonnes
- Azerbaijan - 667 tonnes
- Ukraine - 150 tonnes
- Kazakhstan - 114 tonnes
- Slovenia - 78 tonnes
- Iraq - 39 tonnes
- Iran - 20 tonnes
- Moldova - 19 tonnes
- Belarus - 18 tonnes
- Qatar - 0.4 tonnes
There are 11 fruit processing factories operating in Georgia with the co-financing of the Ministry of Agriculture.
Farmers and fruit growers in Georgia's eastern Kakheti region are preparing for a bumper peach and nectarine season, during which about 35,000 tonnes of fruit is expected to be harvested, announces the Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia.
Georgia is getting ready for the major grape harvest season during which more than a hundred thousand tonnes of grapes will be picked, packed and sold locally or exported. Traditionally, the wine harvest begins in September in Georgia’s winemaking regions – Kakheti, Imereti and Racha.
As of July 5, 2018 Georgia has exported 4,400 tonnes of peaches which is five times more compared to the same period of 2017, announces Georgia’s Ministry of Environment and Agriculture.
Georgia is exporting significantly more peaches this season to several foreign countries and mainly in Russia, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.
Georgia has exported 23,109 tonnes of peaches and nectarines as of August 25 which is 85 per cent more than in the same period of last year, when 12,556 tonnes of peaches and nectarines were exported, announces the Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia.
Georgia has exported 25.3 tonnes of peaches and nectarines worth $21.3 million from May 1 to October 4 which is two times more than in the same period of last year, announces the Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia.
Georgia has exported 1,928 tonnes of mandarins worth $941,000 between August 1 and November 23, announces the Georgian Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Monday said this year’s fruit harvest was expected to hit about 45,000 tonnes of citrus, adding the Government would subsidise collection of non-standard tangerines.
