Georgian professional football manager and former player Shota Arveladze, who most recently was the manager of Hull City FC, will participate in the ‘match for peace’  in tribute to Argentinian “football legend” Diego Maradona, Arveladze announced.

It’s always a great experience to play in charity matches. I’m happy to Play For Peace”, Arveladze said.

The 3rd edition of the match, organised by a foundation WePlayForPeace set up by Pope Francis, will be held on Monday in Rome at Olympic Stadium and will feature legendary football players, including seven-time Ballon d’Or winner and captain of Argentina national team Messi, former Brazilian star Ronaldinho and Italian World Cup winner Gianluigi Buffon, as well as Roma’s Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho and other honoured players.

Former World Cup winner Maradona, widely regarded as one of the greatest players in the history of sport, died aged 60 of heart failure in November 2020.
