Incumbent Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze has published a video address of former teammates from Italian club AC Milan on his Facebook page, in which they wish him victory in the upcoming mayoral elections.
Former teammates including Paolo Maldini, Gennaro Gattuso, Francesco Totti, Filippo Inzaghi and Italian sport journalists characterise Kaladze as a responsible person and express hope that the Georgian people will again elect him mayor of Tbilisi.
Kakha Kaladze, a former football star and ex-caption of the national team, played for AC Milan in his career in 2001-2010. With AC Milan he won the Champions League on two occasions – the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.
Kaladze became the Mayor of Tbilisi in 2017. He is running for Tbilisi mayor for the second time in the local self-government elections which will be held on October 2, 2021 in Georgia.
Edison Research polls commissioned by the opposition-minded Formula TV say that 55 per cent of voters like both incumbent Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze and ex-PM Giorgi Gakharia who are running for Tbilisi mayor in the October 2 municipal elections.
