Georgian deputy economy minister Mariam Kvrivishvili on Wednesday called the naming of Georgia as the most desirable emerging destination 2022 by the British leading travel magazine Wanderlust - a great recognition.
The deputy minister said the award would be important both for attracting more tourists and positioning Georgia in the international tourism market, and noted that the country continued to “actively” take steps to “further” increase its recognition.
This victory is especially gratifying for our country in view of the fact that many other countries participated in the process, however, with the majority of votes, Georgia deservedly won. Of course, we are very proud of this”, Kvrivishvili said.
The award for the most desirable emerging destination was collected by representatives of the Georgian national tourism administration and Sophie Katsarava, the Georgian ambassador to the UK at the annual Wanderlust Travel Award.
