Georgian authorities, easyJet in talks for London-Tbilisi direct flight resumption

Georgian deputy economy minister Mariam Kvrivishvili on Tuesday announced the country’s authorities had started talks with easyJet airline for resuming direct flights between London and Tbilisi.

Kvrivishvili made the announcement following her meeting with airline representatives at the global travel and tourism event World Travel Market London, which opened its doors on Monday and will be closed today.

The deputy minister said resumption of direct flights between the capitals would help bring more tourists to the country.

Britain is a very important tourist market for us, and the existence of direct flights will especially contribute to the growth of tourist flows", she said.

As part of the event in London, Kvrivishvili held meetings with representatives of “major media outlets”, airlines and tourist industry professionals, the ministry said. The Georgian representation at the fair introduced the country’s tourism potential, products, information about flights and dynamics of the post-pandemic recovery of the domestic sector.

Ambassador to the UK Sophie Katsarava and the representatives from the Georgian national tourism administration also attended the meetings. 

WTM London hosts around 5,000 exhibitors from 182 countries and regions, as well as over 51,000 participants.
