The Georgian national tourism administration on Monday announced it had hosted tour operators from South Africa in the latest round of promotion of the country’s potential in tapping into new tourist markets.

The visiting representatives of tourist agencies were hosted in the capital of Tbilisi and the winemaking region of Kakheti.

They were introduced to the local tourist infrastructure and “showed an interest in the potential of Georgian wine and gastronomic tourism”, the administration said, adding a culinary masterclass and wine tasting had been organised for them.

In addition, the GNTA held a presentation about tourist destinations of Georgia for the visiting group, and hosted a meeting between them and their Georgian colleagues to discuss questions of cooperation and arrangements for joint tours.
