Ukrainian and Croatian parliament speakers have expressed gratitude to their Georgian colleague Shalva Papuashvili for his participation in the recently held inaugural Crimea Platform Parliamentary Summit in Zagreb.
The Georgian parliament on Tuesday said the foreign officials had thanked Papuashvili for his address to the summit hosted in late October with a focus on Russia's aggression against Ukraine, including the illegal annexation of Crimea in 2014.
In their letter, the two officials noted their Georgian counterpart's “vocal messages” against Russian aggression.
We are confident that the messages we have made [at the summit] have been heard loudly by the world - our unwavering unity in condemning Russian aggression in Ukraine, our strong solidarity with Ukraine and the Ukrainian people, our unwavering support for Ukraine's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, and our openness to developing parliamentary mechanisms that support Ukraine”, the letter said.

The summit had also demonstrated “our commitment to our shared values of peace, democracy, the rule of law, and respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms”, they noted.
In further comments, the parliament speakers said the declaration adopted as part of the summit highlighted that Russia’s actions against Ukraine “pose threats not only to the country, but also to the whole international community”.
“It is our firm belief that our efforts will go hand in hand with the liberation of Ukraine. We look forward to your participation in the next parliamentary summit, which, we hope, will be held in a peaceful and free Ukraine", the formal address noted.
The inaugural summit was hosted on October 25 by Croatia due to ongoing hostilities in Ukraine.
