Georgian economy minister Levan Davitashvili and Hadas Meitzad, Israel’s ambassador to the country, on Friday discussed cooperation in transport, energy, tourism and civil aviation, the ministry announced.

Davitashvili congratulated the ambassador on the successfully held parliamentary elections in Israel this week and expressed hope that after the formation of the new government, cooperation between the two countries would become “even more fruitful”.

Longstanding ties between the two countries and future priorities were emphasised at the meeting, with the sides noting the “great potential” for further increase in trade following the already observed growth in the field this year.

The ministry noted a feasibility study had been carried out with the aim of agreeing a free trade deal between the countries to further deepen trade and introduce Georgian products to the Israeli market.
