A Georgian minor, who was illegally detained on Tuesday by the Russian occupation forces in the village of Mejvriskhevi in central Georgia’s Gori municipality, near the occupied Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) region, has been released, the Georgian state security service said on Thursday.
In its comments, the service stated the hotline and other tools at the disposal of the Georgian government had been activated and the European Union monitoring mission and co-chairs of the Geneva international discussions had been informed about the incident.
The state body stressed that the occupation forces were responsible for the “destructive actions” committed in Georgia's occupied territories, as well as in the vicinity of the occupation line.
The SSS also said the central government, together with international partners, continued to “work actively” for the release of all Georgian citizens, who have been illegally detained, both in the occupied Tskhinvali and Abkhazia regions.
