The prospects of deepening friendly relations and cooperation between Georgia and Hungary, including inter-parliamentary relations, were discussed on Wednesday by the Georgian prime minister Irakli Garibashvili and the speaker of the national assembly of Hungary László Kövér.

Hungary's “clear position” on Georgia's European and Euro-Atlantic integration process, particularly after the country has been granted the European perspective by the European Council in June, was emphasised by the officials, the government administration said.

The conversation also touched on the situation in Georgia's occupied territories of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) and the existing environment in the region, including Russia's military aggression in Ukraine.

Garibashvili thanked Kövér for his “strong” support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia and the country's European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations.
