Georgian deputy economy minister Mariam Kvrivishvili on Monday said increasing the number of direct flights to European Union member states was among the priorities of the country’s government, in comments on the recent launch of Air Moldova regular flights between Tbilisi and Chișinău.

We hope that along with the increase in the number of flights from Europe and other priority destinations, the number of tourists will also increase, which will contribute to the development of both the tourism sector and civil aviation”, Kvrivishvili said.
The economy ministry said regular flights between Chișinău and Tbilisi would be operated between October 16-27 twice a week on Mondays and Fridays, while between October 30-March 23, 2023 the flights would take place four times a week on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
Over the past nine months, airports of Georgia have served a total of 3,299,808 passengers, a 92 percent increase over the same period of the last year and an 80 percent recovery compared to pre-pandemic figures.
