FIDE council appoints Georgian chess master as special tasks director

The International Chess Federation council appointed a Georgian chess international master Akaki Iashvili as special tasks director of the federation, the Georgian chess federation announced on Sunday.

The council approved the proposal of the FIDE president Arkady Dvorkovich and presented the new management board on Thursday, appointing Iashvili for the next four years to supervise chess events under the scope of the FIDE events commissions all over the world.

Iashvili’s experience as a chess organiser is extensive and covers a decade of important European and world-level tournaments, the FIDE said, adding in his years as the federations council member, he had coordinated the work of the commission for the disabled.
