Georgian chess Grandmaster Zurab Azmaiparashvili was on Saturday re-elected as the President of the European Chess Union for the third time.
Delegates of national federations of 49 member countries were involved in the General Assembly of the Union in Thessaloniki.
The ECU congratulated Azmaiparashvili on twitter following the results of the election:

Azmaiparashvili was elected alongside the Deputy President Dana Reizniece-Ozola, vice presidents Gunnar Bjornsson and Malcolm Pein, as well as the Secretary General Theodoros Tsorbatzoglou and Treasurer Ion-Serban Dobronauteanu, with 44 votes in favour.
The voting also saw two blank and three invalid ballots in a secret voting designed to elect officials for a four-year term.
Azmaiparashvili had a successful career as a player and reached an ELO rating of 2637 in the 2010 World Chess Federation ranking, placing him 114th in the world and second best among Georgian players.
