Cooperation between the Georgian parliament and the United States Agency for International Development was discussed on Wednesday in a meeting between the speaker of the Georgian legislative body Shalva Papuashvili and John Pennell, the newly appointed mission director for USAID in the Caucasus.
Papuashvili extended his gratitude to the agency for support provided to Georgia over the years, the Georgian parliament’s press office said.
Papuashvili also reviewed the government’s progress in implementing the European Union recommendations for granting Georgia the membership candidate status.
The officials discussed possible directions of further cooperation, with Pennell informing the Georgian official about priorities of the new USAID programme and expressing his readiness to cooperate with the Georgian lawmaking body.
