Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Monday met with Shannon Green, the Assistant Administrator of the Bureau for Democracy, Human Rights and Governance of the United States Agency for International Development, to discuss cooperation with the organisation.
The parties their “multi-dimensional” partnership, highlighting the implementation of the nine priorities set out by the European Commission in November for opening European Union accession talks with the country.
Papuashvili extended his gratitude to the agency for “strong” support provided to Georgia over the years, the Georgian Parliament’s press office said.

The Georgian official welcomed the priorities defined for Georgia in USAID's 2020-2025 strategy and aimed for the country’s further democratic development, economic growth and strengthening of resilience.
In her turn, Green positively assessed USAID's cooperation with Georgia and expressed willingness for further support, including in fulfilling the steps outlined by the Commission.
She also congratulated the country on the EU membership candidate status, granted to it by the bloc in December.
