Nikoloz Samkharadze, the Georgian parliament's foreign affairs committee chair, on Wednesday reviewed the “difficult situation” in the Russian-occupied regions of Georgia and Russia's “provocative actions” on the sidelines of the Warsaw Security Forum.
Samkharadze emphasised the need for Georgia and Ukraine to join NATO and create a “security umbrella”, the Georgian parliament’s press office said.
The forum panel dedicated to the role of the parliaments of European countries in stopping Russian aggression focused on the development of the “Black Sea security strategy” and the formation of a “unified vision” of postwar Europe.
Samkharadze also met the chair of the Munich Security Conference, Christoph Heusgen, discussing “challenges and ongoing processes” in the South Caucasus and Black Sea regions.
