Nikoloz Samkharadze, the Georgian Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee Chair on Thursday participated in the panel of the international conference Forum 2000 in Prague.

Samkharadze spoke about the importance of the Eastern Partnership for the countries that have “chosen the path” of European Union membership and noted that the Eastern Partnership “needed” to be reviewed with new ideas and approaches, as Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova had already been granted European Perspective of membership by the European Council, the press office of Georgian Parliament said.

He also stressed that Georgia had considered the Association Agreement and the 12-point conditions outlined by the European Council for granting the country candidate status as the “main platform” and added that the Eastern Partnership format had lost its relevance, however, it remained important for EU to have relations with various states, including Armenia and Azerbaijan in the South Caucasus region.
