Georgian Parliamentary delegation reviews cooperation with East Asian countries at AIPA General Assembly

Future cooperation between Georgia and East Asian countries was discussed on Thursday in a meeting between a Georgian Parliamentary delegation and the officials from member states of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

In the framework of the AIPA’s 44th General Assembly, the Georgian delegation held an extended meeting with representatives of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Laos, Singapore, Vietnam, Philippines and Thailand, the press service of the Georgian Parliament said.

The meeting focused on future cooperation and priority areas, as well as strengthening mutual cooperation in international organisations.

Nikoloz Samkharadze, the Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee Chair, provided the officials with “detailed information” about “current developments” in Georgia and the Black Sea region, as well as the country's economic, energy and transit potential.

The delegation also held a bilateral meeting with AIPA Secretary General Siti Rahman, with Samkharadze thanking the official for his support in granting the institution’s observer status to Georgia.
