In his address, Samkharadze said “integration into the EU is a constitutional task for Georgia and is supported by the overwhelming majority of Georgian society regardless of party affiliation and sympathy.”
On March 3, Georgia has applied for the EU membership in a fast-track procedure due to [the] changed geopolitical and security environment, and we would like to ask you to work closely with the executive branch of your Government to enable the European Councils’ decision to grant Georgia EU member candidate status, Samkharadze’s address said.
The Georgian MP emphasised granting membership candidate status to Georgia would also send “a strong signal” that independent states are free to choose “their path of development”.
