Georgia’s Under-18 national rugby team won the Rugby Europe U18 championship quarter-final match against their Czech counterparts with a score 76:0 in Rustavi on Sunday.
The win in the central-eastern city came as Georgia is hosting the competition for the first time, with eight countries participating.

Rugby union executive director Tornike Gogebashvili said the country had a track record of hosting “tournaments at the highest level”, adding he hoped the “teams of all seven countries visiting our country will be satisfied with the training and playing conditions, as well as with the general organisational aspect and the hosting from the Georgian side".

He also noted the opportunity of promoting the sport through the championship while “members of the national team are given the opportunity to successfully defend the title of European champions in front of their family members and friends".
Belgium, Portugal, Spain, the Netherlands, Romania, Germany and the Czech team are also involved in the tournament.
