FIBA EuroBasket 2022 official fan zone opens in the centre of Tbilisi

For the festive mood of the “big basketball holiday”, a branded hot air balloon, a giant hashtag has also been placed in the park, Tbilisi TV tower and the Bridge of Peace have been illuminated in the EuroBasket, purple and blue, colours. The official, “unforgettable”, fan zone of the FIBA EuroBasket 2022 officially opened on Wednesday at Rike Park in the centre of Tbilisi, with the opening ceremony featuring a special program and a concert, the Georgian Basketball Federation said.

The following artists are taking part in the concert: Dato Evgenidze, Liza Bagrationi, Nato Metonidze, Salio, Giorgi Zagareli and Beka Gochiashvili,  as well as DJ Levi Love Disco, New One and others.

The fan zone presents various spaces and activities such as big screens for fans to watch matches and support the national team, a history alley related to the 100th anniversary of Georgian Basketball, 3X3 basketball court and fan shops, as well as corners for sponsors, food and drink, children’s entertainment and electronic sports places.

The Competition for Division A games will run between September 1-7, where the national teams of Georgia, Spain, Türkiye, Belgium, Bulgaria and Montenegro will hold matches at the newly completed Tbilisi Arena in Georgia’s capital Tbilisi, co-hosting the European continent’s major basketball event FIBA EuroBasket 2022 for the first time in history, along with the Czech Republic, Italy and Germany.
