Latvia’s newly appointed Ambassador to Georgia, Edīte Medne, on Tuesday said the country would remain Georgia’s “trustworthy partner”, as Latvian President Egils Levits presented her with diplomatic credentials in an official ceremony at the Riga Castle, the Latvian foreign office said.
Medne said Latvia would keep its support for Georgia in the latter’s Euro-Atlantic aspirations and implementation of reforms.
I am committed to the promotion of economic and cultural ties between Latvia and Georgia, and intend on working closely together with the Latvian diaspora”, she said.
Medne began her career for the foreign service in 1995, taking up a post at the Embassy Division. During her career, she has served at the Permanent Representation of Latvia to the European Union, the Administration Director’s Office, and also by heading the Property and Investment Policy Department and the Diplomatic Facilities Department.
