Georgian rescuers have saved two tourists stranded near the Datvisjvari Pass in eastern Georgia’s Dusheti municipality, the Emergency Management Service said on Wednesday.

The body said the rescuers had to reach the location of the tourists on foot due to the difficult terrain in the locality.

They promptly determined the location of the group of foreign hikers and brought two individuals with health problems to a highway about 15 kilometres away”, said the body.

The foreign citizens were transferred to a hospital, with the Service confirming their lives were not in danger.

The effort involved rescuers of the Mtskheta-Mtianeti Main Division of the Emergency Management Service and professionals of the Pshav-Khevsureti National Park.
