PM, Israeli investment company CEO discuss Georgia’s investment potential, cooperation prospects

Georgia’s investment potential and cooperation prospects in energy, agriculture and more were discussed on Thursday in a meeting between the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Meir Shamir, the Chief Executive Officer of Mivtach Shamir Holdings, an Israeli-based investment company.
The meeting also focused on the strategically important location of Georgia, the growing number of international visitors and the favourable tax conditions in the country, the Government Administration said.
Mivtach Shamir is one of the largest holdings that has been operating in the Israeli market for more than 30 years in real estate, energy, finance and technology. The company is also present in India and the United States.
The Georgian National Tourism Administration is hosting journalists from highly rated publications and television stations of Israel, as well as popular bloggers from the country, in a programme that will see them promote Georgia as a tourist destination to their audiences, the state body announced on Thursday.
Considering Georgia as an investment destination is a “very attractive proposition”, with the operating environment in the country being significantly improved along with an increase of the gross domestic product per capita, businessman and TV analyst Mark Haynes Daniell said on Wednesday after the Georgian Economy Minister Levan Davitashvili introduced a development plan for western Georgia’s Soviet-era Tskaltubo resort town to representatives of the private sector.
The Consumer Price Index in Georgia increased by 0.2 percent in July month-on-month, while the annual inflation rate totalled 11.5 percent, the National Statistics Office of Georgia announced on Wednesday.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Tuesday said that the Georgian Government would invest additional “tens of millions” of GEL in the effort to rehabilitate the long-neglected Soviet-era Tskaltubo resort into a “modern, world-class” spa location.
Prospects of cooperation and investments in various directions in Georgia were discussed between Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Yıldırım Demirören, the Chairman of Demirören Holding, an Istanbul-based investment holding, on Thursday.
Israeli and Georgian justice ministers Gideon Sa'ar and Rati Bregadze on Wednesday signed a joint declaration for establishing cooperation on digitalisation of public services of the two countries.
