The International Basketball Federation has awarded the Georgian Basketball Federation for “excellent organisation” of the FIBA Under 20 European Basketball Championship for Division B, the GBF announced on Monday.

The championship ended on Sunday with a game between Serbia and Iceland, won by the latter. The match was followed by the reveal of the top five players and the most valuable player of the tournament.
The games were hosted at the Olympic Palace and the new Tbilisi Arena complex in the capital between July 14-23.

International FIBA tournaments, such as the 3×3 U18 European Championship and U16 Challengers between boys and girls had taken place in Tbilisi before, with the U20 championship marking a step-up in scale for organisers.
