A new bill by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia will ban vehicle drifting to improve traffic safety, the Ministry announced on Saturday.

The Ministry said after identifying "challenges in practice", it had drafted the amendment to the Administrative Offences Code and  the Law on Traffic, with a ₾300 (about $102) fine and deduction of 30 points on the driver's licence to be imposed for cases of drifting.

As an additional measure, a ₾500 (about $170) fine and deduction of 35 points on the driver's licence will be used in cases where drifting results in damage.

The bill also includes increased sanctions for driving a vehicle that has been deregistered, exceeding speed limits at a speed of more than 40 km/h, as well as using tinted windows in violation of the rules established by the legislation, and exceeding  established norms of noise generation.
