Deputy Interior Minister discusses ongoing, future Ministry activities with Council of Europe representatives

Alexandre Darakhvelidze, the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, and representatives of the Council of Europe discussed ongoing and future work of the Ministry within the CoE project for the Human Rights Compliant Policing in Georgia (HRCPG) on Thursday.

The activities to be implemented by the MIA and its partner agencies within the HRCPC project during the next six months were discussed by Stefan Sirbu, the Deputy Head of the Council of Europe Office in Georgia, Karlo Katsitadze, the  Head of the Special Investigation Service, and Giorgi Burjanadze, the Deputy Public Defender of Georgia, the press office of the MIA said. 

Designed in close cooperation with the Georgian authorities, the HRCPG is aimed at supporting them in enhancing monitoring and discharging policing responsibilities in an "effective and accountable" manner through greater compliance with human rights standards.

Darakhvelidze said trainings and exercises were in progress at the Ministry for employees of the state body, and underlined the importance of the projects implemented with the support of the CoE this year.
