A group of Ukrainian children and their parents were hosted in Georgia’s Black Sea region of Adjara on Thursday as part of a holiday programme organised by the Georgian Government.
Vladimir Konstantinidi, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, and Maya Khajishvili, the Minister of Education of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, welcomed the visitors at Batumi International Airport in the regional capital, the Georgian Foreign Ministry’s press office said.

In his comments, Konstantinidi noted it was “significant” that the foreign office was hosting and organising the event, which he called “another clear example” of Georgia’s support to Ukraine amid the ongoing war in the country, both from political and humanitarian dimensions.
Khajishvili added the programme would give Ukrainian children the opportunity to learn about the seaside region and “deal with the emotions” associated with the war back in their home country.

Maryna Khonda, the Deputy Mayor of Kyiv, said the “comprehensive” assistance offered by the Georgian Government to Ukrainian nationals was “proof” that the two countries “understood very well who they are fighting”, as well as the importance of the future of upcoming generations. She expressed her “deep gratitude” to citizens and the Government of Georgia in her comments.

"We are grateful to your country for inviting our children for a vacation. Our country is currently at war and our children are being harmed by bombs and sirens. Thank you very much for such an opportunity", Ukrainian citizen Anna Shvydenko said in her remarks on the initiative.

The holiday programme is implemented with the cooperation of the Embassy of Georgia to Ukraine and the City Hall of Kyiv, with the involvement of the Administration of the Government of Georgia. with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia covering the costs for the travel and accommodation of the visitors.
