Turkey, Russia, China top trading partners of Georgia in January-June 2022

Turkey ($1.29 billion), Russia ($962.2 million) and China ($922.5 million) are the top trading partners of Georgia in total external trade turnover in January-June 2022, preliminary data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia show. 

Georgia's top trading partners by exports in January-June 2022 were China ($400 million), Azerbaijan ($287 million) and Russia ($256.5 million), while the top trading partners by imports were Turkey ($1.03 billion), Russia ($705.7 million) and China ($522.5 million).

The top three export items were as follows:

  1. Copper ores and concentrates - $533.1 million (20.8 percent of total exports)
  2. Ferro-alloys - $301.6 million (11.8 percent)
  3. Motor cars - $269.3 million (10.5 percent)

The top import commodities were the following:

  1. Motor cars - $606.8 million (10.3 percent of total imports)
  2. Petroleum and petroleum oils - $576.8 million (9.7 percent)
  3. Copper ores and concentrates - $416.3 million (7 percent)

Overall, Georgian external trade turnover amounted to $8.47 billion in January-June 2022, posting a 35.4 percent increase year-on-year, said Geostat.

The exports equaled $2.55 billion (+35.6 percent y/y), while the imports stood at $5.91 billion (+35.3 percent y/y).
