Georgian exports reach $439 bln in June for 25% yearly increase

Georgia exported $439 million of goods in June, marking a 25 percent increase compared to the same month of 2021, preliminary data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia shows. 

The update has not included detailed data on the types of goods exported or re-exported last month, with figures on external merchandise trade to be published on July 19.

In other figures, imports grew by 21 percent year-on-year and reached $1.04 billion in June.

Overall, Georgian external trade turnover amounted to $8.46 billion between January-June 2022, posting a 35.2 percent increase year-on-year, Geostat said.

The value of exports rose by 35.1 percent and equalled $2.54 billion in the reported period, while imports also grew by 35.3 percent, amounting to $5.91 billion. 

Trade deficit, a measure of the negative balance of trade in which imports exceed exports, reached $3.37 billion, and the share of trade turnover hit 39.8 percent.
