The Georgian Government’s delegation, led by Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, on Tuesday departed for Madrid to take part in the NATO Summit that is set to launch today, the Government Administration said.
Within the framework of his visit to Madrid, Irakli Garibashvili will hold high-level bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the Summit. The Georgian delegation includes Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili, Defence Minister Juansher Burchuladze and the Head of the Government Administration Revaz Javelidze.
Garibashvili on Monday said the delegation was expecting “assessment and recognition” of “all the progress” made by the country over the years at the Summit. Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on Monday said the alliance would adopt “new packages of support” for Georgia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Moldova at the gathering.
Garibashvili received an official letter of invitation to the Summit from Stoltenberg a week ago. In the invitation letter, the NATO official said he would welcome the Georgian PM to a special meeting involving heads of states with alliance partners.
