The Georgian Government’s delegation to this week’s NATO Summit expects “assessment and recognition” of “all the progress” made by the country over the years, Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said on Monday.
The PM told the weekly Government meeting he would hold “high-level meetings” with European leaders at the event launching on Tuesday.
"I believe that the country has made great progress, even in terms of NATO integration. We have opened a joint training centre with NATO in Krtsanisi, and I think the country has done everything to increase the compatibility of our troops. We are strengthening the army, carrying out active reforms, and the process of transformation is underway”, he said.
Garibashvili also stressed that “all positive dynamics” would be maintained and the country would “peacefully emerge” from the process.
The Government head received an official letter of invitation to the Summit - hosted in Madrid - from Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg a week ago. In the invitation letter, the NATO official said he would welcome the Georgian PM to a special meeting at the Summit involving heads of states with NATO partners.
