A new system of fare payments for public transport has started operating in Georgia’s capital Tbilisi today, introducing cards enabling unlimited transit for select time periods.

In the new system, passengers are able to choose between unlimited 90-minute, single-day, one-week cards, as well as options for several month-long cards, and a year-long pass.

  • Unlimited one-day card will cost 3 GEL, with cardholders able to travel by any type of public transport throughout the day
  • Unlimited one-week card will cost 20 GEL
  • Unlimited one-month card will cost passengers 40 GEL
  • Unlimited three-month card will be on sale for 100 GEL
  • Unlimited sixth-month card cost will be 150 GEL
  • Unlimited one-year card will cost 250 GEL

Season tickets will be sold at express branches of Bank of Georgia and at machines in Tbilisi Metro.

Tbilisi Transport Company said the travel card Metromani, the cards of Bank of Georgia and TBC Bank - used until now for transportation fares in the capital - would still be valid, however the fare for a one-time trip using these will be 1 GEL instead of 50 tetri.
