A new system of fare payments for public transport has started operating in Georgia’s capital Tbilisi today, introducing cards enabling unlimited transit for select time periods.
In the new system, passengers are able to choose between unlimited 90-minute, single-day, one-week cards, as well as options for several month-long cards, and a year-long pass.
Season tickets will be sold at express branches of Bank of Georgia and at machines in Tbilisi Metro.
Tbilisi Transport Company said the travel card Metromani, the cards of Bank of Georgia and TBC Bank - used until now for transportation fares in the capital - would still be valid, however the fare for a one-time trip using these will be 1 GEL instead of 50 tetri.
