People living in Georgia’s capital Tbilisi will be able to attach their season passes for public transport to their bank cards starting May, Mayor Kakha Kaladze announced on Tuesday.
Kaladze said the decision would eliminate the need for passengers to carry an additional card, explaining details of the service would be released at its launch.
A new fare system for public transport in Tbilisi came into effect in February, with up to 55,000 season passes of various duration sold so far.
Ticket offices and Metro stations began selling "unlimited" passes on January 5, with season tickets additionally being sold at express branches of the Bank of Georgia and at machines in Tbilisi Metro.
Commuters can choose from a one-day unlimited travel card to a one-year travel pass following the launch of the system by Tbilisi City Hall.
