Five new bus routes and three new minibus routes will be added to public transport in Georgia’s capital Tbilisi starting June 4 due to increased passenger flow, Mayor Kakha Kaladze announced at a meeting of municipal authorities on Wednesday.
The additions will seek to reduce traffic intervals on certain routes, Kaladze said, adding the City Hall was “constantly monitoring” the situation with the goal to improve transport services.
The replacement of minibus routes with buses seeks to increase capacity for the previously underserved directions. Kaladze admitted “some discomfort” was still present for commuters in the city despite efforts of the authorities to reorganise public transportation.
