Interior Minister awards Ministry's football tournament winners for Police Day

Georgia’s Interior Minister Vakhtang Gomelauri on Saturday awarded the Emergency Management Service team for their win in a football tournament involving teams from divisions of the Ministry, in an event marking extended Police Day celebrations in the country.

The Emergency Management Service team defeated their counterparts from the Patrol Police Department in a “tense” match to take the title, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.

Attended by dignitaries of the state body, the tournament also saw David Janashia of the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Police Department team score 19 goals to be selected for the Best Player title.

The Ministry hosts the annual internal competition to promote a healthy lifestyle among its employees.
