Monastery of the Cross in Jerusalem is one of the holiest places for Georgians. It was founded by a Georgian public figure Giorgi-Prokhore Shavteli between 1030-1050, with the assistance of the Georgian Royal family. A fresco of Rustaveli, vandalised but later restored, is found at the monastery.
