Relations between Georgia and Lithuania and the prospects for further deepening of the existing “close partnership” between the states were discussed on Tuesday in a meeting between Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Gitanas Nausėda, the President of Lithuania at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

The Officials noted that the partnership between Georgia and Lithuania was “based on common values and principals,” with Lithuania praised as “one of the most active supporters of Georgia,” the Government Administration said.

Garibashvili thanked Nausėda for his “continued support” for Georgia's sovereignty, territorial integrity and European future, and said he hoped for a “strong support” of partners in the process of the country’s integration into the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation.

The Officials also discussed the prospects of further deepening economic cooperation between their states, while the meeting also focused on the ongoing hostilities in Ukraine and the security environment in the Black Sea region. Garibasvhili confirmed his solidarity with the Ukrainian people in their defence from the Russian invasion.
