Cooperation between Georgia and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, the ongoing hostilities in Ukraine and the resulting security environment in the Black Sea region were discussed on Tuesday in a meeting between Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Helga Maria Schmid, the Secretary General of the OSCE.
Garibashvili thanked Schmid for her efforts in the peaceful settlement of the conflict in Georgia and in rebuilding trust between the “war-torn population,” stressing the role of the OSCE Co-Chairs in the Geneva International Talks and the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism meetings, the Government Administration said.
The officials highlighted the Georgian Government remained committed to the peaceful settlement of the conflict and the process of democratic development of the country, despite the “difficult security and humanitarian challenges”. The need for a further round of Geneva International Talks in the near future was also discussed.
