Georgia's export promotion agency Enterprise Georgia has received the prize of the World Trade Promotion Organization Award, which the agency won in 2020.
The agency was praised for its efforts in promoting Georgia's export capabilities, with the prize handed over this year as the award ceremony was not held in 2020 due to the pandemic.
Pamela Coke-Hamilton, the Executive Director of the International Trade Centre, handed over the award to the Director of Enterprise Georgia, Mikheil Khidureli, at the ceremony held in Ghana on Thursday.
The final of the competition identified organisations encouraging "innovative and effective export development initiatives". Participants were challenged to demonstrate they were supporting micro, small and medium-sized enterprises to become competitive in international markets.
The win also means Khidureli will serve as a jury member for this year's WTPO Awards, with the event held by the International Trade Centre - itself jointly developed by the United Nations and the World Trade Organization to support internationalisation of small and medium-sized enterprises.
