Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili will travel today to Brussels to hold high-level meetings with the Secretary General of NATO, presidents of the European Council and the European Parliament, as well as other high-ranking European Union officials, the Government Administration said.
Garibashvili’s meeting will involve discussions around the EU membership questionnaire Georgia has submitted.
We have finished working on the [EU] questionnaire ahead of time. Once again, I would like to thank all the public officials who were involved, the ministers, [...] the entire Government, all the agencies, [and] the Parliament that the questionnaire was completed on time and submitted to the European Union,” the head of the Government said ahead of the visit.
On May 10, Garibashvili handed over the second completed part of the questionnaire, filled out by the country ahead of schedule, to Carl Hartzell, the Head of the EU Delegation to Georgia.
Based on the questionnaire, the European Commission will prepare an evaluation report on granting the candidate status to the country, with the relevant decision expected by the end of June.
